Cleaners at Nike Town in Oxford Street received fantastic news this week when their employer, SB-FM, confirmed they would be receiving the new London Living Wage rate. At the same time SB-FM confirmed that the cleaners will have their double time pay on bank holidays restored.

Cleaners at Nike Town in Oxford Street received fantastic news this week when their employer, SB-FM, confirmed they would be receiving the new London Living Wage rate. At the same time SB-FM confirmed that the cleaners will have their double time pay on bank holidays restored.

The London Living Wage rate was increased to £11.05 per hour in November, but until this week the cleaners were unsure whether they would be receiving it. It was only after CAIWU contacted SB-FM that confirmation was received that they would honour the increase first won by the Nike Town cleaners back in 2017 from Cordant.

Once again, these events demonstrate the problems caused by frequent changes of employer. Since 2017, Cordant had honoured the annual LLW increase and the bank holiday pay rate, however when SB-FM took over the contract, these rates had to be secured all over again.
